I don't know if you have heard of Samaritan's Purse, but you are about to! :D In my posts of what I'm thankful for, non-profits make the top list! I love that there are so many people willing to do the work necessary to help a complete stranger in need! Samaritan's Purse was named and I'm guessing inspired by the story of the good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37). The Good Samaritan's story is one where, ultimately, Jesus told us to go and help others. Samaritan's Purse has been in operation helping people in various ways for 40 years! How great is that!
This makes the second year we were able to bless them with a shoe box or two, and I am so thankful for that! National Collection Week is November 14-21, even if you don't have much it really doesn't take much to fill one of the shoe boxes, or you can donate a few dollars to help send a box! It costs $7 to ship one box and with that box we can show the greatness of God's glory! They take the boxes to the children and give them out, while spreading the Word of God and helping others as we were commanded to do!
The boxes are easy, and I've included the instructions from their site, I hope you'll go by and visit! Even if you can't help right now, maybe you know someone who could or you can save up and help next year! If you don't know where to get one of the boxes, don't worry, you can use a regular shoe box. I did a box for a girl age 5-9. Here is a pic of what I included in my box (minus the puzzle because it wouldn't fit!):
